Valorization of Carrot Pomace: UVC Induced Accumulation of Antioxidant Phenolic Compounds

چکیده

Carrot pomace is the main waste residue obtained during carrot juice extraction. Plant tissues respond to abiotic stresses (i.e., wounding stress and ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation) by accumulating bioactive compounds. Due mechanical damage occurring extraction, undergoes extreme stress. In this study, effects of UVC light (11.8 W m?2, 0–120 min) storage time (48 h, 25 °C) on accumulation phenolics compounds antioxidant activity (AOX) were evaluated. that was non-treated with (control) showed a 709.5% increase in total at 48 h. A high correlation AOX values against (R2 = 0.87) observed, indicating contributors tissue. After treatment, radiated for 120 min an (40.4%) chlorogenic acid (CHA) content. At 24 protocatechuic 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, which not detected before storage, 166.5 mg/kg 169.4 mg/kg, respectively, treated pomace. Chlorogenic highest (143.6%) h control. Valorization achieved increasing its concentration through radiation.

Phenolic compounds, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties of pomace extracts from four Virginia‐grown grape varieties

Grape pomace is a potential source of natural antioxidant and antimicrobial agents. Phenolic compounds, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties of pomace extracts from four Virginia-grown grape varieties were investigated. White grape pomaces had higher (P < 0.05) solvent extraction yield than red varieties. Concentrations of total phenolic (TPC), total flavonoid (TFC), total anthocyanin (TAC...

Antioxidant properties of phenolic compounds

The addition of synthetic antioxidants to oils and/or foods is one of the most efficient ways to prevent lipid oxidation. However, the safety of synthetic additives has been questioned stimulating the evaluation of naturally occurring compounds with antioxidative properties. Although there is no assurance of the safety of natural antioxidants, there is some comfort knowing that such antioxidant...

Antifungal Activity of Phenolic Compounds Extracted from Dried Olive Pomace

The antifungal activity of phenolic compounds extracted from olive pomace against Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium culmorum was investigated. Olive pomace, a by-product of olive oil production, was used as a source of phenolic compounds. The extracted phenolics were added to a medium to reach phenol concentration of 0.1 and 0.2 % (w/v) and tested for their antifungal activity ag...

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
